A video posted to Instagram by the New York Post shows a cat jump in to save a dog from coyotes.
In the video, the family dog is in a yard when it's attacked by two coyotes. A cat comes in and chases the coyotes off. According to KKTV, the cat was a stray that the family takes care of. The dog did suffer some injuries from the coyote's bite, but recovered with stitches and a splint.
In order to keep your pets safe from coyotes, Colorado Parks & Wildlife suggests keeping pets on leash, avoiding known or potential den sites and thick vegetation, picking up small pets if confronted by a coyote, and supervising pets and exercising extra caution from dusk through dawn.
To keep your home safe from coyotes, Colorado Parks & Wildlife states that you should never feed coyotes, remove attractants like pet food and bird feeders from your yard, and secure trash properly.
