If you want to one (or more) of Taylor Swift's "reputation" Stadium Tour dates last year, or you watched her Netflix special, then you already know ... it was all kinds of incredible. And during the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards, Swift was honored for her record-breaking tour as she accepted the award for Tour of the Year.
Taylor was presented Tour of the Year by Maren Morris, who was a surprise guest during the "reputation" tour stop in Arlington, Texas (Maren's hometown), where they performed "The Middle." Rocking a gorgeous sparkly romper and beautiful butterfly heels and a pink ponytail, Taylor accepted the award, thanking her fans for making the tour such a success. She said:
"I think one of the most wonderful things about the way that this whole tour turned out is that for the entire six months leading up to the first show of this tour, every headline that I read about the tour was 'this is going to be a massive failure, this is going to be a flop tour' and, you know, it really did wonders for my self-esteem, it was really great to hear people saying that I was gonna be playing to nearly empty stadiums. I've learned a lot, and one of the things I've learned is that life is really unpredictable, and people can make forecasts and make predictions, but those predictions and forecasts may not come true if there's an unforeseeable factor involved. And that unforeseeable factor in this case was my fans. I honestly owe everything, everything in my life to you, and I wanna thank you if you came out and saw the show in perfect weather, or if you came to one of our many rain shows that we had, and also, I wanna say thank you if you just watched the show on Netflix on your couch. You guys are the reason this tour, and the only reason why this tour, wasn't a massive failure and ended up being the highest-selling tour in US history."
She continued, "I also just wanted to say before I go that I love your passion, I love your attention to detail, I love how much you care, I love seeing all the things that you're posting online and I just wanted to let you know that when there's new music, you will be the first to know, I love you so much."
The "reputation" Stadium Tour supported Swift's sixth studio album, reputation, and the global trek broke the singer's own record for highest-grossing tour by a woman with over 2 million tickets sold in the U.S. alone and grossing $266 million (it's the highest selling U.S. tour in history by any artist).
If you went to any of Taylor's "reputation" Tour dates or saw the Netflix special, then you already know all about her impressive stage setup and special effects — she had a giant inflatable snake named Karyn. Swift also sang out of eight microphones across three separate stages (the main stage being 110 feet tall), floated on a platform the air, made about eight wardrobe changes throughout the show, and got around backstage via a super fast rocket sled.
Taylor's "reputation" Stadium Tour set list not only included songs from reputation, but also featured ten fan favorites from many of her previous albums. She also met many of her fans backstage in her "Rep Room," and opening the show was Camila Cabello and Charli XCX.
