I am headed over to Haigh Quarry in Kankakee, IL this weekend for some training dives with Diventures Scuba and Swim Center. I need to get 4 more dives in to get my Open Water Diving Re-certification. I've never dove the Quarry in Illinois, but I'm told it's reallt cool. There are sunken boats, trucks, and other things to explore. Water is not quite bath temp, only about 65 degrees on the surface and the deepest part it is a chilly 35 degrees. Not sure I'll be going down to 90 feet until it warms up a bit. I'll be definitely wearing a 7 mil wet suit to keep from freezing. Can't wait. Anyway, a friend knew I was diving again and he has been sending me news story clips and videos of shark attacks. Nice friend. I don't think I need to worry about any sharks this weekend. There are big fish there, but nothing that will likely bite me. Check back here next week for some photos of my dive this weekend. I'll be a bit more concerned when I go down to the Caymans or the Bahamas during the winter. If you are interested in diving, the local Diventures Scuba and Swim Center is where I would recommend taking their Try Scuba course. You take a few hours on a Sunday in the pool to try out wearing the SCUBA equipment and breathing underwater. If you enjoy it, they offer a variety of classes. I'm looking to get my daughter into a class, which she can use in pursuit of her Zoology degree. #Diventures @jjcookradio #ad
